Income Tax Calculator 2026

Choose your country, enter your salary and see your income tax, social security and take-home pay on this year's official rates for the UK, the US, India and Pakistan.

Quick answer: Income tax is charged in bands: each slice of your income is taxed at its own rate, so a higher band only applies to the part above its start. For example, £30,000 in the UK pays £3,486 income tax plus £1,394 National Insurance, and ₹15 lakh in India pays ₹97,500 under the new regime.

How this income tax calculator works

Most countries tax income progressively. Your income is split into bands, and each band has its own rate. Moving into a higher band does not raise the tax on the income below it; only the part above the band's starting point pays the higher rate. The calculator first takes away the tax-free amount for your country (personal allowance or standard deduction), then applies the bands, then adds social security where it applies.

Take-home pay = gross salary − income tax − social security

The result is an estimate for a single job with no other income. Pension contributions, salary sacrifice, benefits in kind, tax credits and local taxes are not included, so your payslip may differ.

    United Kingdom: income tax 2026/27

Rates for England, Wales and Northern Ireland from 6 April 2026. Scotland sets its own income tax bands, so Scottish taxpayers will pay a little more or less than shown. The thresholds below are frozen at the same levels as last year.

The new regime is the default for FY 2026-27 (AY 2027-28). Budget 2026 kept the slabs unchanged, and the Income-tax Act, 2025 that took effect on 1 April 2026 carried the same rates forward.

Salaried people get a ₹75,000 standard deduction. A rebate makes taxable income up to ₹12,00,000 tax-free, with marginal relief just above that. Surcharge applies above ₹50 lakh (10%), ₹1 crore (15%) and ₹2 crore (25%), and 4% health and education cess is added on top. The old regime, with deductions such as 80C and HRA, is not covered here.

    Pakistan: salary tax FY 2026-27

Salaried income up to Rs 600,000 a year is tax-free. Above that the rates rise from 1% to 35%, and the surcharge on high salaries has been removed for this year. For the full FBR slab table, the comparison with last year and worked examples, use the dedicated Pakistan salary tax calculator.

    Frequently asked questions

Which countries does this income tax calculator cover?

The United Kingdom (England, Wales and Northern Ireland), the United States (federal tax), India (new tax regime) and Pakistan (salaried slabs). More countries will be added.

Which tax year do the rates apply to?

UK 2026/27 (from 6 April 2026), US tax year 2026, India FY 2026-27 (from 1 April 2026) and Pakistan FY 2026-27 (from 1 July 2026).

    Is the result exact?

No, it is an estimate. It treats your whole salary as taxable apart from the standard allowance or deduction shown, and it does not include pension contributions, benefits, other income or tax credits.

How much tax do I pay on £30,000 in the UK?

On £30,000 a year in England, income tax is £3,486 and employee National Insurance is £1,394.40, leaving take-home pay of about £25,120 a year (£2,093 a month).

How much tax is due on ₹15 lakh salary in India under the new regime?

After the ₹75,000 standard deduction, taxable income is ₹14,25,000. Tax on the slabs is ₹93,750 and 4% cess adds ₹3,750, so the total is ₹97,500 a year.

Is income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free in India?

Under the new regime, taxable income up to ₹12,00,000 pays no tax because of the section 87A rebate. For a salaried person that means a salary up to ₹12,75,000, after the ₹75,000 standard deduction.

How much federal tax do I pay on $75,000 in the US?

A single filer earning $75,000 in 2026 has taxable income of $58,900 after the $16,100 standard deduction, and pays about $7,670 in federal income tax. Social Security and Medicare add about $5,738.

Does the US result include state income tax?

No. State and local income taxes vary by state (some states, such as Texas and Florida, have none), so the calculator shows federal income tax and FICA only.

Why is the UK marginal rate 60% between £100,000 and £125,140?

Your £12,570 personal allowance is reduced by £1 for every £2 earned above £100,000. Each extra £1 in that range is taxed at 40% and also removes 50p of tax-free allowance, so the effective rate is 60%.

Does the calculator store my salary?

No. Everything is worked out in your browser and nothing you type is sent or saved.
