How the tax is worked out
Pakistan's salary tax is progressive. You pay the fixed amount for your slab, plus the slab's rate on the part of your income above the slab's starting point. Only the income inside a slab is taxed at that slab's rate.
Example
A monthly salary of Rs 150,000 is Rs 1,800,000 a year. That falls in the 1,200,001 – 2,200,000 slab, so tax is Rs 6,000 + 11% of Rs 600,000 = Rs 72,000 a year, or Rs 6,000 a month. Take-home pay is Rs 144,000 a month.
Tax = fixed amount + rate × (yearly income − slab start)
What this calculator does not include
It treats your whole gross salary as taxable. In real payroll, some allowances may be exempt, and you may claim tax credits (for example on approved donations, pension fund contributions or Zakat paid). Your employer's payslip or your annual return can therefore differ slightly. For exact filing, use FBR's IRIS portal or consult a tax adviser.
