Age limit for government jobs in Pakistan: how it is counted
Before you apply, work out whether your age fits the advertisement. Commissions count to the exact day, so a few days can decide eligibility.
1. Find the counting date
Most advertisements count age on the closing date. If the advertisement names another date, use that one.
2. Use the date of birth on your documents
Offices check your CNIC and matriculation certificate. Use the date of birth printed on them.
3. Read the age limits and relaxation
Take the minimum and maximum age from the advertisement. Relaxation for categories such as serving employees or persons with disabilities differs by commission, province and post, so use the figure in the advertisement or the recruitment rules.
Worked example
Born 10 June 1996, closing date 15 October 2026: age is 30 years, 4 months and 5 days. With a maximum age of 30 and no relaxation, this candidate is over age. With 5 years of relaxation (an example only), the limit becomes 35 and they are eligible.
